As I am wrapping up the main character, I started visualizing the set it will operate in. I want it to be ornate but not too decorated that it will draw attention away from the actual story. First, the question is what makes for a good bedroom. Then, it's what makes for a good bedroom for a king.

This example shown above is a good example of a room that's not too cluttered. Even with no character in it, the viewer can still interpret certain characteristics about them. I can conclude that this character is a fan of classic films, that they appreciate film. They also like gaming as the PC they have is obviously more powerful than the average person's.

Again, since the protagonist of the animation is a king, his quarters will have to fit his status. The example to the right reveals the status of whoever lives in it, however, it admittedly lacks much character beyond that. My goal is to deliver both ideas at once, so the question is: how do I achieve this (without killing my computer)? The best thing I can do for myself is lean into the cartoonish aspect of the world that I'm creating to have a balance.

Willy Wonka's office from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory comes to mind as a room with a lot of character that is wonderfully cartoony. The room is nonsensical, bizarre. It provides more questions than answers. The reason it works despite its otherworldliness is because it fits the
character of Willy Wonka and his factory perfectly. There's the balance between the character, the world he lives in (or moreso the world he has created for himself), and his occupation. While this example is an extreme case, its concept is the end goal for me.
