Investigation Blogpost: Week 6

This Week's Work: Monday (11/15): Modified the armature Tuesday (11/16): Started working on face armature Wednesday (11/17): Redid face armature (following this tutorial) Thursday (11/18): Combined face armature with body armature; Troubleshooting Friday (11/19): Added teeth to model & connect it to armature; Parent armature with body; Testing ~ As I am wrapping up the main character, I started visualizing the set it will operate in. I want it to be ornate but not too decorated that it will draw attention away from the actual story. First, the question is what makes for a good bedroom. Then, it's what makes for a good bedroom for a king.  This example shown above is a good example of a room that's not too cluttered. Even with no character in it, the viewer can still interpret certain characteristics about them. I can conclude that this character is a fan of classic films, that they appreciate film. They also like gaming as the PC they have is obviously more powerful ...

Investigation Blogpost: Week 5

This Week's Work:  Monday (11/08): I was absent (it was my birthday!), but I still got some work done. I finished the build of the hair. I only had the middle of the hair to do. It was a process of trial and error trying to figure out what would look best for the character. Eventually, I readjusted two strands that sat on top of the "root" of the hair so that there was a simpler pattern to follow to fill it in. Some time duplicating and fixing up some curves and I got a hairpiece I was satisfied with. I made them into a mesh and joined them together. With that out of the way, I could move on to the clothes. Tuesday & Wednesday (11/09-10): I worked on the shoes for my character. I wanted them to look reminiscent of those pilgrim shoes (picture shown below). It makes the time period a little more ambiguous which I like! I didn't model toes or anything so starting the shoes was simple. I duplicated the foot I had and got to working. I had to fix up some of the topog...

Investigation Blogpost: Week 4

This Week's Work:  Monday-Tuesday (11/01-2): I went rogue on this part, no tutorial for me! I looked up references on how to do hair (as seen in the last update). Using the curve method, I created a strand of hair. I tried to follow the reference as best as I could but I didn't like the way it was turning out. The shape was awkward and didn't fit what I was going for. The problem was, the other side of the hair was flat so when the hair curled, it only had "texture" on one side. It just looked really ugly. I erased that strand and decided to make a new one. (The example of hair shown below are the remnants of my first try, I deleted some of it). Wednesday & Thursday (11/03-04):  I added a "scalp" to the model so I could visualize the hairline, and so, if any of the hair strands peeked through, it would be hard to identify. Using the new strand I made, which was texture all around, I started to create the head. A big mistake I made on the first try ...
