Investigation Blogpost: Week 16

This Week's Work: Tuesday (4/19): Work on interior Wednesday (4/20): Finish interior Friday (4/22): Work on rigs ~ Catching Up: I had finished my interior and wanted to do one last examination of my rigs before beginning to pose my models. I had decided with the time that I had left in the year, I would pose them where they showcased the key moments of the story. However, as I looked at the rigs, I found that it was completely incompatible with my models. Everything looked off when I posed it and it got really frustrating to work with. So I decided to redo my rigs, starting with the King. I followed these tutorials, where I learned about shape keys and worked with a simpler ik rig instead of what the rigify modifier gave me.  Following this tutorial on shape keys, I was able to make my character blink and set up controllers as well! I never got to work with shape keys since the year we would've been taught that ended early, so it was a new experience that I found very helpful....

[UPDATE] District Arts Festival Plan

Will you stick with your plan?  Will you alter it?  What pieces are you planning to print out?  Which films will you show on the computer?  I want to alter a few aspects of my project. On the left side, I have more crochet projects than I thought I had so I want to dedicate the entire top section of that panel to those. I don't know the exact sizing of the traditional projects so I'll have to see exactly how much space to dedicate to it (plus the title).  For the middle panel, I want to move the film display down one space to make it easier to set up the laptop. In it's place, I want to put some concept art up there. So, I'll have two stills and three pieces of concept art in total. One of the concept art pieces was hand-drawn so that means I'll have four things to print (and I can fit the concept art pieces onto the one 14x20 printout, so really just three). One the right panel, I'm still pretty fine with that plan. I'll print three 14x20's and then I c...

District Arts Festival Plan

I plan on making my display at school, but I'll likely bring in some supplies from home. The cardboard will be in a triangle formation. (Rough) Plan: There'll be one video playing, my king animation. If for whatever reason, it's not finished (and I don't have a reel at the very least), I will reorganize the board a little bit so that my animation from last year plays on the right side instead. Looking at my plan, I should have about 12 prints that I need to order. The right side will, of course, consist of traditional works that I already have. All the lettering will be painted. For the middle, I'm thinking a white & gold palette to match the theme. On the left and right side... I'm thinking it'll be the same but that decision is not final yet. (I don't plan on using any end tables)

End of 3rd Marking Period Reflections

MP3 Reflections     Makayla's transition from one medium to another was very admirable! So late in the year, it seems extremely daunting to switch up on the type of projects you're making. It's especially impressive considering it has been a while since she's even used Blender. It shows a willingness to learn and adapt! Through my own process, I've thought about giving up on my animation, as I found that I enjoyed/had an easier time modeling/sculpting than I did rigging and posing. I resolved to continue though, as I want to challenge myself. Makayla's resolve to challenge herself motivates me even more to continue working hard on my project.          Sean's composition in his latest short film was extremely well done! The still above in particular was so loaded with information despite no narration to explain what's happening. His use of show, don't tell is excellent and something that I definitely need to perfect considering my animation...
